When I first started creating the images you see in my galleries, I used very simple methods to acheive the look I desired. I took a screenshot, loaded it into my two favorite image editing progragrams and that was it. Through the knowledge Ive gained while using my programs, you can really see a difference between the older more simple pictures to the newer more complex pictures. The explainations you are about to read are from the way I do things now, aka my newest pictures.

I have 3 basic types of images in my galleries: those of easy difficulty, moderate difficulty, and hard difficulty. This first explaination is how I create an image of easy difficulty level. The time on this type of picture is roughly between 1 and 3 hours.

As with anything, I start with the screenshot. For this kind of picture, I typically take 1-5 screenshots of my subject. In the armadillos case, I had taken 2. Of the two, this is the one I liked better.

As you can see, it was night in Norrath and the picture is kind of dark. My first step in this painting was to lighten things up.

Having the main object in the direct center of a picture is bad design sense, so I cropped the image, putting the armadillo in the lower right hand corner. This also gives the effect that you are closer to the armadillo, when in fact you arent. I also erase the words at this point.

Next, I painted in some clouds to make the background more interesting, painted a shadow underneath the armadillo so it didnt look like it was floating, added lighting effects, a paper texture, and a special touch to soften the hard polygonal edges.

Finally, I create a custom frame for my picture, digitally, and add it to my peice. This is the final creation.
